What is Asbestos?
There are different types of asbestos that can be detected.
There are three common forms: - Chrysotile (white) - Amosite (brown) - Crocidolite (blue)
Characteristics: heat and chemical resistant.
Diseases: Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, Lung Cancer.
Where is it found?
Corrugated roofing on garages, boiler lagging, partitioning and ceiling tiles, vinyl and thermoplastic floor tiles
Each of these types of asbestos require removing / managing in different ways and Robinson Environmental Contracts are licensed by the Health and Safety Executive to manage or remove and dispose of all these types of asbestos.
Positive identification of a suspected material does not necessarily result in removal. Following the results of an initial survey, there are alternatives which can be put in place.
Asbestos containing materials have been used in many buildings and products over the years. If disturbed, asbestos fibres can become airborne and inhalation of these fibres can cause irreversible damage to the lungs (asbestos related diseases are the UK’s biggest occupational killer).
